When you book a mileage building weekend, Devon provides the ultimate starting location for you. With our base conveniently located within a 5-minute taxi ride from Plymouth mainline train station, we are easily accessible from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Exeter.
Mileage building is designed to give you an immersive sailing and sea management experience. You will be required to function below decks preparing food and drink whilst we are on the move, as well as take longer spells at the helm and on deck. We can also include navigational exercises.
To join us, you will have had some experience of sailing at sea, but qualifications are not required. There will also be the possibility of some night sailing.
Our passages are run when the weather and conditions are more challenging, usually from September. However, this does not mean we will go out in any weather – your safety will be our number one priority!
We undertake these passages using our Jeanneau 409 (42′) sailing yacht.
Devon Sailing Experiences offers you the advantage of your own double cabin aboard our modern, spacious yacht. The facilities at our base location, King Point Marina (Plymouth), are maintained to the highest standard for your comfort. With 12 private wet rooms, washing and tumble drying facilities, free wifi connection and a free book library, you will immediately feel at home with the amenities on offer and the help of the friendly, welcoming staff.

Plymouth is the starting location for our mileage builder, Devon. Arrive at 18:00 the evening before you set sail.
Typical student to instructor ratio is 3:1. Maximum instructor ratio is 4:1.
