Description

For all of our RYA sailing courses, Devon and Cornwall provide the backdrop of stunning scenery. This RYA Competent Crew Course is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers.

As part of your competent crew training, you will experience onboard living aboard one of our high quality, modern and spotlessly clean yachts. With your own double cabin*, this hands-on, active sailing course will provide you with a real taste of the skills required to successfully crew a yacht. By the end of the course, you will be able to helm, manage sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day duties on board.

When training with us, not only will you be working to achieve your RYA Competent Crew qualification in Devon, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful locations in the west-country. Throughout our RYA sailing courses, Devon and Cornwall guarantee fabulous sailing ground with immediate access to stunning locations. Imagine leaving Plymouth Sound, training throughout the day on the yacht, then arriving at the quaint town of Salcombe. After mooring the yacht in Salcombe Harbour, head ashore to explore the local pubs and to plan the next day at sea with your crew mates. Perhaps you would prefer to heading west, where the beautiful and picturesque Cornish town of Fowey beckons you for your overnight stay aboard the yacht? Either way, whether you choose to head to Salcombe or Fowey, there are plenty of good reasons to complete your RYA sailing courses in Devon.

Our base location, King Point Marina in Plymouth, is conveniently located close to Plymouth mainline train station – less than 5-minutes away in a taxi. With private, clean and well-maintained showering facilities, this modern marina offers high-quality amenities for you to use. With local pubs and restaurants all within walking distance, it is an ideal location to begin your west-country based sailing adventures.
